A LOO WITH A VIEW ICHIHARA, JAPAN
The elegant loo is nestled among cherry, plum and peach trees overlooking a breath-taking secret garden. While the design of the facility is made out of clear glass the 2 metre wooden log roll wall promises guest the highest security while using the toilet. To avoid long queues the loo is only open to women and allows just one person in at a time. Sou wanted to capture the feeling of openness while also maintaining privacy and security in visitor’s surroundings.

PUBLIC TOILETS USTER, SWITZERLAND
This public toilet, developed for the city of Uster in 2011, is a prototype for a new typology of urban infrastructure which will be installed, in variations, at several places in the city over the next few years.

KUMUTOTO WELLINGTON, NZ  Location: Wellington, New Zealand Perhaps the most unusual-looking toilets on our list, Kumutoto, in Wellington, New Zealand have been described as looking like some kind of armour-plated insect or robotic dinosaur. But as well making a strong style statement, these loos are also designed to be practical.

TRANSPARENT TOILET LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND
This transparent toilet in Switzerland is one of the more nerve-wracking of its kind. Not just a two-way glass structure, this particular design has been created with LCD Privacy Glass whereby the walls only turn opaque upon locking the door.

STEGASTEIN LOOKOUT AURLAND, NORWAY
For want of a more spectacular view, this public toilet in Norway surely takes the cake. Located at Stegastein lookout along one of Norway’s National Tourist Routes ‘Aurlandsfjellet’, the toilets align with the minimalism design of the lookout itself.

L’URITONNOIR SUSTAINABLE TOILET- FRANCE
