Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Dutcher.
Kasey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My husband is an entrepreneur at heart and is always discussing with me his new business ideas, none of which I had ever agreed to. One day back in 2016, he brought to my attention the need for a company that provides luxury portable restrooms and one who could also provide these luxury restrooms at any event and at any location. Having just had a baby and being pregnant with my second, this really resonated with me since I was constantly finding myself using gross “green/blue/grey boxes” aka a porta-potty that you commonly find in a construction site. No matter where I was- a wedding, music festival, a street fair and even a backyard birthday party, I always wound up using a less than stellar bathroom! Once I gave this idea some thought and did my research, I also saw a need for this type of service; it was hard to find a family owned and operated business, such as ours, and once I told my husband that his idea was genius, he immediately got to work and we started Platinum Pro Portables.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What was rough at first was letting people know we existed and that they needed us. In this day and age, social media is key in letting the world know about your business and that you exist. We also had to let people know WHY they needed us and there are so many reasons-one, our restrooms have no boundaries as far as where they can travel and be set up so this opens up endless possibilities for event locations. We have serviced an animation expo that welcomes thousands of guests each year, dessert weddings and events, mountain top weddings and events and even ranch weddings and events where you typically won’t find a restroom within a 10-mile radius. Two, they continue the “Wow!” factor that hosts want their guests to feel when they are in attendance at an event. There is nothing that can damper the feeling of a gorgeous, romantic wedding or party more than the site of blue box toilet sitting off to the side of an event space. And three, you don’t have to hover, hold your breath or plug your nose when you step into our bathrooms.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Platinum Pro Portables – what should we know?
Platinum Pro Portables is a family owned and operated luxury portable restroom service. We provide luxury portable restrooms to our clients at any event and at any location. We specialize in providing that “Wow!” factor to our clients and we know that once they step foot into our restrooms, they won’t want to “go” with anyone else. Our bathrooms come full stocked and with all the bells and whistles- A/C, LED lighting inside and out, a stereo, running hot and cold water, flushing toilets and even a chandelier. What sets us apart from other companies is the care and thought we took into customizing our portable restrooms. yes, we designed them ourselves. We aim to keep the flow of traffic moving in order to minimize the chance of a line forming, while maximizing privacy. We want our restrooms to add a touch of class to any event.
What I am most proud of as a company is the fact that we have educated so many people about the type of service we provide; it has opened the door for a bride to have her wedding at her favorite ranch; it has allowed a homeowner a break from 200+ guests from using her home restroom(s) and cleaning up afterwards. The looks and expressions that we get when people use our restrooms and hear more about our company is very rewarding. Along with this, I am most proud of the hard work my husband has put into this business. He works tirelessly to provide for myself and our two girls and I could not be prouder.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being personable and honest. And listening. Platinum Pro Portables can be considered a “mom and pop” type of business. I often times have my daughters sitting in my lap while speaking with clients and will apologize for the noise they are making in the background but clients love it. It lets them see that we are a family owned and operated business. Being a small company also gives us a chance to talk freely with our clients; I love to get to know about their event, their special day, and learn how we can help make it even more perfect for them. I want our clients to leave us feeling like they were well taken care of. We stand behind our service-from initial phone call to delivery and pick up- and I feel like that says something about the service we provide.
